Open Letter To The Women In India

Amidst all the congratulatory Whatsapp messages and Facebook statuses for Women’s Day take a minute to think, what are WE really celebrating here? By ‘we’ I refer to the women in our country who I feel have NOTHING to celebrate this year.BrokenChains

Rather as a country we should collectively bow down our heads in SHAME! Just marking a day for it isn’t enough. I am tired of living in a country where women are treated as the weaker sex not by sheer virtue of our size but by the years and years of indoctrination!

When will it be okay for me to do as I please, to wear what I want, to go where I want and NOT be worried about all the lecherous eyes on me? Only when all this happens will I feel the need to happily celebrate this day again. Until then I don’t see the need for it.

I am sick and tired of being treated differently just because my gender. While the west has come up with the #HeForShe campaign what is India doing as a country on this pressing matter? Banning movies, fighting over whether a documentary should be shown or not, banning a certain food item and before you know it, THEY MIGHT AS WELL BAN WOMEN AS WELL.

To the fellow women of this country, watching the Nirbhaya documentary made my blood boil. It made me sit up and wonder as to why hasn’t anything changed still. Why is that a rape victim has to live with the stigma all her life and the men who has done this to her are guilt free? It’s equally appalling to see his reasoning in the video and that of the defending lawyer who quite frankly shouldn’t be allowed to practice at all.

It’s NOT the girl’s fault ever, then why treat her like this? I request all the women of the country to be the change they want to see. To speak up and take a stand and not be okay with the secondary status.

And to the men, NO, I am not asking the men of the country to become knight and shining armours rather I am just them to become responsible fathers, brothers, husbands and sons to the women of the country. This is not only the women’s fight it is also your fight. For men of quality always respect women’s equality. Cause in the end always remember, it was a women who brought you into this world so you have no right to disrespect her in any way.

This famous dialogue from a popular television series called ‘Gossip Girl’ is perhaps the most apt description of what fashion trends ought to be. Even though you may have all the money in the world but that certainly doesn’t mean that you will be the most stylish person on Earth. More often than not, it has been said, either you are born with or you don’t have it at all. And before you let the horses of your imagination run wild, let me tell you I am talking about ‘fashion’.

While most of us aspire to be truly fashionable all our life but very few of us actually achieve this in our life time. Each season comes with its new set of fashion  trends, the beauty lies in finding a fine balance between what’s ‘in’ and what ‘works for you’. To make matters simpler for you here are a couple of fashion trends for summer which you can easily incorporate in your wardrobe and make million heads turn your way this spring summer.

1. Go chic with black and white: Let’s just stick to basics; some things never go out of fashion irrespective of the season. Black and white as a trend’s isn’t groundbreaking; yet you can easily spot black and white everywhere. What is really interesting is to know, what makes it a spring summer’s hot favourite? Play around with your own take of this classic color combination through various textures, patterns, and silhouettes.

2. Sultry sheer: Ditch the layers and let your skin breathe in sheer. Who said fashion trends for summer had to be tricky? Sheer has been the go-to option for women across ages to look effortless chic. The beauty of this fabric lies in the fact that it can be worn simply as you please. The basic idea is to experiment with suggestive styles and to add the see-through oomph factor to your bland attire.

3. Pump it up with jumpsuits: From fighter pilots to technicians, everyone has once worn this garment and wondered how something fashionable can actually be useful too. This spring summer season designers all over the world have taken inspiration from the humble jumpsuit, to create a fashion-forward look. From experimenting in cuts, to fabrics and fits, jumpsuits were given the royal makeover with a couture edge and with the ample help of accessories such as leather belts, scarves and statement jewellery.  Mark my words pick the right jumpsuit for your body type and accessorize it properly, trust me you’ll be surprised to see how a garment that was traditionally designed to be uniform can be transformed to become chic and sophisticated.

4. Say it with pop art: We have seen intriguing combination of influences from the world’s leading pop-artists, in fashion. However, fashion trends for summer will now be full of circle motifs, bright and bold colours, stripes and what not. Playful layering is the key to get it right and not end up looking like a fool. Whosoever thought that pop-art would be restricted to museum walls didn’t see this coming.

5. Head-to-toe in white: Spring summer is the perfect time to let your whites literally see the light of the day. At this point, I am not going to tell you about the rules of when you can wear all-white; as it is all about how you wear it. Try to follow the fashion trends for summer by incorporating new styling tricks which include mixing textures, layering multiple pieces, and teaming various shades.

8 Things Women Hate About Men!

“Men will be men” is an excuse that men all over the world use to cover their ass. Yet still that doesn’t give them a pass to do what they want. Women in general have a long list of annoying habits that men have. And if by chance you ask them to compile it you will have an unending list of things that they hate and you’d eventually have one extensive collection of cons.

d

Here are top 8 things that men do that we as women collectively hate and men often than not, don’t even realize they do them.

1. Adjusting their privates
Yes, there I said it!! Now it isn’t that you have just grown out of after puberty. Men have a lot of fascination with what lurks beneath and they can spend a lot of time down there to ‘sort the boys out.’ But please, even if it may just be for the purposes of comfort but it is something that women time and time again have complained about. STOP DOIING it in public, it isn’t the most hygienic practice!!

2. Poor hygiene
Now let me just spell it out, this a BIG no no. Men, please for the love of god, wear nice cologne and deodorant 24/7. Cologne is in no way a replacement for soap and water. A good scent is a natural aphrodisiac and we LOVE it. And if you didn’t know, it is one of the first things a woman notices in a man. So invest on the perfect cologne.

3. Never taking directions
What is with men when they feel that they are the best drivers in the world? It’s like they have an in built GPS system and they know directions to everywhere. So, chill and understand that it’s ok to take directions sometimes! Trust me, it’s better than getting lost or being late!!

4. Forgetting
“Men are bad with dates and also at remembering just about anything in general” but WHY? Women absolutely loathe it when you forget. Although we may forgive you for the occasional forgotten detail, but it is not that okay when you make it a habit. But forgetting something important, like dinner plans, or worse, an anniversary or birthday is a disaster. Is just a big no!! Put a reminder in the phone on email anywhere but just try!!

5. Ogling
Let me just clear this once and for all. Women absolutely DESPISE catching their men ogling other women. It’s not that women don’t ogle, we do too, but there is a certain level of subtlety involved. Try at least be more discreet about it.

6. Cockiness
Women in general do not want anything to do with a cocky guy. Why? Because cocky guys are the number one cheaters and this is an established fact. Women know that cocky guys are secretly insecure as people so they feel the need to overcompensate. Try and be let’s just be real, that should work!

7. Selective hearing
We know that men are completely incapable of multitasking and even scientists have demonstrated the same. So pretending to watch a program while your wife or girlfriend is attempting to initiate a conversation will never end well. Because in this scenario, the TV usually wins. And pretending to listen to her or selectively listening to what she is saying is more annoying to women than just not listening at all.

stupid

8. Talking about your ex
Nothing can be a bigger put off that constantly taking about your ex. Talking about the ex is a “NO GO” area. Never ever do it. Mentioning your ex is a lose-lose situation. If a by chance this topic comes up try and not get into the details. It will be good for you only in the long run, trust me.

Why I Hate Bollywood!

Bollywood has certainly lost its charm and even more so in the case of its low standard of originality. Film makers these days seem to be in the rat race to make money and in doing so they are producing movies with no head or tail. And before you jump to bite my head off, of course, there are a few exceptions.

tumblr_mo56wdnxHU1s6pukzo1_500

But the majority movies that seem to have crossed the 100 crores are just excuses called movies. Or rather they are just mass entertainers that make no sense whatsoever and are related to nothing sensible in life. Anyway, here are the reasons why I simply hate Bollywood!

Let’s get to the crux of the problem here. Bollywood plots are the sole reason why they make crappy movies. The boy meets girl #insert song, boy and girl fall in love #insert song. The hero aka the boy is poor and the girl’s family disapproves of the union, #insert sad song.

The boy gets into a huge fight with the uncle, past lover, future lover, father, cousins etc etc of the girl ( insert fake punching sounds), the parents finally give in to the union, #insert over acting and huge droplets of tears flowing from the parents. The couple finally gets married, #insert marriage song, THE END. Now, what exactly we got to see in maximum movies.

tumblr_memr3wMYxp1qf3v8bo1_500

Not only is the plot that sucks usually, it is also the charaterisation, treatment of the plot -all are way too over the top. And have no connect whatsoever to the audience. It’s like a three hour long torture in the name of movie with people trying too hard.

Next excessive use of item songs make me hate Bollywood even more, not only are they demeaning but they all run down women and objectify them. Most of these songs play no role in the ‘so called development of the story’ and are just cheap excuses to cater to the baser needs of the front row audience.

From songs we move to the lyrics, the lyrics of some of the chart busters go like ‘mera pyaar, pyaar, pyaar, hukka bar’!! Or another jem like ‘aachi baat kar li bahut, abh karuga tere saath gaandi baat’. With poetic masterpieces like this why would anyone want to miss a movie!!

tumblr_mtef89GFMy1s1ncoso1_500

More than 75% of the actors and actresses in Bollywood have no idea why they in the profession, it’s like anyone and I mean anyone can get up one day and declare that they can act and join the Bollywood bandwagon. Their acting ability is limited to over the top expressions coupled with pelvic thrusts. All this and much more put me in position but to HATE Bollywood!!
